Kid's Marathon

All the children in Mr.Callaghan's, Ms. Markham's and Ms. Andrews' 5th & 6th class have shown serious commitment to their fitness over the last three weeks. We are taking part in a kids running challenge, where four days a week, we run a certain distance. Over the 8 weeks, the combined total distance will equal to that of a full marathon. The final mile will be completed in Dublin along with other kids who are taking part, late November. Details of date, time and location will be confirmed soon.

At the moment, we are halfway through week 3. Every day this week the children will run 1000 meters. Each week, our distance increases slightly. The children have shown excellent commitment to the running and their fitness levels are improving daily.

In class, upon completion, we chat about the importance of health related issues. This week we are discussing the mental benefits of physical exercise.

Today, our very own Marathon runner with international experience, Mr. Callaghan ran with the children. We are very proud of the positive attitude and dedication shown towards our daily running. Hopefully it will inspire and encourage children to realise the huge benefits that exercise has.

It will be a huge achievement when the children finish their final mile.

Well done to everyone involved!
